To start off the "fashion trend" series, i'll be talking about the shirt dress. During the fashion shows for Spring '15, women have styled the shirt dress in many ways, and designers put them down the runways as well. What exactly is a shirt dress? Remember those times when we "borrowed" our husband's collard, buttoned down shirts? Well, shirt dress is a style of dress that borrows those ideas from a man's shirt such as a collar, button down, or cuffs. Usually they will come longer than your hips, flowy, and loose fitting. From runways to street styling, the shirt dress has been paired with shorts, jeans, skirts, or simply as is.
These are just some of the designers who have added their own touch and style to each It was in a majority of runway shows during NYFW from Ralph Lauren, DVF, Saint Laurent, all the way to Burberry, Louis vuitton, and many others.
Runways are fun to watch for trends and to see what's in, but we cant always use it in our daily basis. Street style is what makes it so easy for us to go bold and risk it on "out of the norm" runway trends. Street styling is like the world is our runway. I personally like to watch street styling over runways any day. The street styles up top each put together a casual, easy, effortless outfit with the shirt dresses. The best thing about these shirt dresses is that u can dress it up and dress it down as much as you want. Belt it, accessorize it, heel it up, sneaker it down, flip flops, flats, layer it, or just simply wear it plain simple and throw on a bag. I'm loving this trend, unfortunately I haven't gotten a chance to wear it because here in New England, well it's below freezing point outside. As soon as it starts warming up I will be all over this so easy and effortless trend.
